Nicodemus was a ruler over Judeans, and he came to Jesus by night saying, "Rabbi, we know that from God you came - a teacher, for not-one-person is able to do these signs which you do except God may be with him."
Jesus answered by telling him about being born with/by spirit and information regarding the kingdom of God.
