It took 40 hours from the time of Jesus' arrest to the time of his death. The number 40 is significant in that from God's point of view it is the period of probation and trial in order to prove the truth regarding something. Jesus was the true sacrificial Passover lamb receiving the full consequences for the sins of mankind ending in his death. God provided the lamb to be sacrificed, and it was Jesus Christ's own freedom of will to carry out that sacrificial offering of himself to God on behalf of mankind (refer to John 1:29).

Jesus spat to the ground, and he made clay from the spittle, and he anointed the clay on the blind man's eyes. Then Jesus said to him, "You must go, you must wash yourself into the pool of Siloam" - which is interpreted 'having been apostled'. Therefore the man went away, and he washed himself, and he came observing. The man could now see with his eyes!
