Revelation 13

In Revelation 12:18 we read that the dragon was caused to stand on the sand of the sea (the seashore) and the continuation of the actions which the dragon carries out via his various methods - during the final 3½ years - is provided by John in Revelation chapter 13, with additional explanation given in Revelation 17:8-13.
Revelation 13:1-4:
13:1And I saw a wild-animal ascending out-from the sea having ten horns, and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, and on its heads names of blasphemy; .2and the wild-animal which I saw used-to-be like a leopard, and its feet as a bear, and its mouth as a mouth of a lion; and the dragon gave to it his ability and his throne and great authority; .3and one from its heads as having been slaughtered2 into death and the stroke of its death was attended-to; and the whole earth was marveled behind the wild-animal, .4and they worshipped the dragon because he gave the authority to the wild-animal, and they worshipped the wild-animal saying, "Who (is) like the wild-animal and who is able to war with it?"
And I (John) perceived (knew with my mind)...
·       a wild-animal (a savage beast of prey which is not tamed by mankind; this is the same "beast" referred to in Revelation 11:7, 17:8 and 11)
o   ascending (mounting, going or coming up)
§  out from the sea (specifically it comes out from the abyss below the observed sea)
·       having (it holds in its possession the combination of all the power, attributes, etc, of the following individual parts)
·       ten horns (each one of the 10 connoting a radiance of strength and power to overcome plus courage in the face of attack; as the great fiery-red dragon in Revelation 12:3, also refer to Revelation 17:7 and 12),
·       and seven heads (figuratively referring to its having 7 positions or functions of being the chief or principal part from which to enforce its instruction and directive; as the great fiery-red dragon in Revelation 12:3, also refer to Revelation 17:7-10),
o   and on its horns ten diadems (10 bands or badges worn to display the position of dignity, royalty, and earthly dominion as kings or rulers; these diadems are worn on its horns instead of on its heads),
o   and down on its heads names of blasphemy (to designate and describe its distinguishing and distinctive constitution, character, quality, workings, etc [some Greek texts have the singular word "name" as it being the same name on each of the heads] – these names relate to their intention and mark the point to be reached by these heads, they consist-of and therefore communicate blasphemy, calumniation, evil speech, the action of treating God and others with lack of Godly reverential-respect);
...and the wild-animal which I saw used to be (it was continuing to exist during a past time, historically) similar to...
·       a leopard (refer to Daniel 7:6 representing the empire of Greece),
·       and its feet as a bear (refer to Daniel 7:5 representing the empire of Medo-Persia),
·       and its mouth as a mouth of a lion (refer to Daniel 7:4 representing the empire of Babylon);
...and the dragon gave to it (the old snake, the devil, satan; refer to Revelation 12:9; also refer to Daniel 7:24 – the dragon willingly presented or yielded the following from himself to the wild-animal so that it would also have)...
·       his ability (able-power, capability)
·       and his throne (the high seat which the devil/satan took for himself designating himself to be the king including all the regal authority associated with that position so as to pour out his directives)
·       and great authority (large authoritative-power, permitted-right);
...and one from its heads (the 7th head) was in comparison to one that...
·       was slaughtered (killed, slain) and evidence of slaughter was still there
o   into death (with a view to, directed to, resulting in being dead)
·       and the stroke of its death (the blow, strike, stripe as being hit by a lash which was the cause of death)
o   was attended-to (was treated therapeutically, taken care of as necessary by the dragon);
...and the whole earth (people living in areas covering the entire earth)...
·       was marveled (caused to be astonished, they looked on with wonder and amazement)
o   behind (backwards, after) the wild-animal,
·       and they worshipped the dragon (the people paid homage to the dragon, they were obeisant towards the devil/satan)
o   because the dragon gave the authority to the wild-animal (as verse 2 above),
·       and they worshipped the wild-animal saying,
o   "Who is similar to the wild-animal
o   and who is able to war with it (what person or spirit has the ability, able-power, capability to battle against it)?"

Even though these questions are uttered as a form of honor and worship by those who worship the wild-animal and will not war against it – the true answer is provided in Revelation 17:7-14 and 19:11-21.

Mark chapter 16 - resurrection

Verses 2-8:
.2And very early on (day-)one of the sabbaths they come on the memorial-place (after) the sun's having arose .3and they used-to-say towards themselves, "Who will roll-away the stone for us out-from the door of the memorial-place?" .4And having observed-upwardly they view-with-attention that the stone was rolled-away2 for it used-to-be vehemently great.
.5And having gone into the memorial-place they saw a young-man sitting-down in the right-sides having been clothed2 (with) a white robe and they were really-marveled.
.6But the (one) says to them, "You must not be really-marveled; you seek-after Jesus of Nazareth, the (one) having been crucified2 - he was raised-up, he is not here, look!, the place where they put him; .7but you must go, you must say to his learning-disciples and to Peter that, 'He leads you forth into Galilee, there you will see him according as he said to you.'"
.8And having gone-out they fled away-from the memorial-place for a trembling and bewilderment used-to-have them, and they said nothing to not-one-person for they used-to be fearful.
Extremely early on the first day of reckoning the seven sabbaths to Pentecost (on Sunday 18th Nisan which began at sunset, the first day of the week) while the women are coming on the memorial-place after the sun had risen up (after sunrise these same women as verse 1 above are going-to and approaching the sepulchral monument, the tomb where the dead body of Jesus had been put; refer to Mark 15:46), they were saying towards themselves (to each other), "Who will roll away the stone for us out from the door (thereby removing it from the entrance, access point) of the memorial-place?"
After the women arrived at the memorial-place and observed-upwardly (looked-up at the entrance being mentally aware of it), they are attentively viewing (contemplating in/with their minds) that the stone had already been rolled away and it remained away from the entrance, for it was vehemently great (to a great extent, very much the stone was large and so it was easy for them to see from where they were standing that it had been rolled away and they did not need to ask someone else to roll it away for them).
This event is the third time that Mary the Magdalene went to the memorial-place since the resurrection of Jesus (refer to John 20:1 and 2 for the first occurrence, and John 20:11-18 plus Mark 16:9-11 below for the second occurrence). Evidently other people did not believe what she had told them about what happened to her. Now she is going there with the women.
And after the women went into the memorial-place they saw (perceived)…
·       a young-man (a youth; the general term ‘young-man/youth’ also applies to men ranging in age up until the age of 40 years; in this context it is referring to an angel that looked like a young-man)
·       sitting down at the right-hand side of the memorial-place,
·       having been clothed and continuing clothed with a white robe (a long outer garment equipped or fit for people of good and honorable standing or position in a community such as priests or kings – a robe that is radiant, emitting light, effulgent, brilliant and bright had already been thrown or cast around the angel as a vesture, wrap, covering)
…and the women were really-marveled (greatly amazed and intensely astonished). But the angel (seen by the women as a young-man) says to them...
·       "It is imperative that you are not really-marveled;
·       you are seeking-after Jesus of/from Nazareth (looking for Jesus the Nazarene; Jesus was brought up in Nazareth even though he was born in Bethlehem),
    • emphatically and specifically the one who was crucified and that truth has not changed -
·       he was raised-up (caused to rise up alive from being dead),
·       he is not here (he is not inside this location of the memorial-place),
·       look (behold, see, pay attention!, the place where they put him (the specific location where they placed his dead body);
·       but contrary to staying here, you must go (it is imperative that you actively lead yourselves under, in the sense of going without any argument, under cover, as animals go because they are under a yoke without going from side to side or intentionally stopping to do something else, go)
·       you must say to his learning-disciples (students) including Peter that,
    • 'He leads you forth into Galilee (he precedes you, goes before, in front of you into Galilee; refer to Matthew 28:16 and John 20:26-29 about the event in Galilee),
    • there you will see him (there you will see Jesus, because he will present himself to be perceived with your eyes and known by you)
    • just as Jesus said to you (refer to Mark 14:28).'"
And after the women went out, they fled (put themselves in flight) away from the memorial-place; in truth during that past time...
·       a trembling (as a shaking or quaking with tremendous intensity)
·       and bewilderment (something outstanding, in the state of being awestruck, totally-puzzled in their minds as though out of their normal senses)
...was holding them (affecting their behavior), and they said nothing to not-one-person (the usage of a double negative figuratively emphasizes that definitely they did not say anything to anyone while they were going on their way to tell the learning-disciples) for during that past time they were continuing to be fearful (afraid of the people who had crucified Jesus).

Luke chapter 4 - Jesus speaks to the people


Verses 16-21:

.16And he went into Nazareth, where he used-to-be having been nourished2, and he went according to the-thing having been accustomed2 with him in the day of the sabbaths into the synagogue, and he stood-up to read; .17and a little-book of the Prophet Isaiah was given-upon him, and having folded-up the little-book he found the place where it used-to-be having been written2,

.18"(The) spirit of (the) Lord (is) on me, by-reason-of which He anointed me to good-message to poor-people, He apostled2 me to herald-forth dismissal to captive-people and observation-upwardly to blind-people, to apostle in dismissal (the people) having been broken-down2, .19to herald-forth an acceptable year of (the) Lord."

.20And having folded the little-book, having given-away to the assistant he sat-down; and the eyes of all-people in the synagogue used-to-be gazing-intently-on him; .21but he began to say towards them that, "Today this writing was fulfilled2 in your ears."

Jesus went (came) into Nazareth, which was the location where he was continuing to be nourished during a past time (sustained, fed while he was growing-up into manhood; refer to Luke 2:39, 40, 51 and 52)...

·         and he went in accordance with what was accustomed and it remained customary with him (in the way/manner that it was the ethic, manner, habit for him)

·         during the day of the sabbaths into the synagogue (the days when people were asked to rest from work and to keep those days holy worshipping God, usually on the seventh day of the week; in this context referring to the Saturday sabbath after Pentecost in 27 A.D.),

...and he stood-up to read (out-loud so that other people present would personally know the information contained in the writing). A little-book (emphasizing its size as being very small but with specific content – a little book, scroll, paper, papyrus) containing words written by the Prophet Isaiah was given onto his hands, and after Jesus folded-up (unrolled in an upward manner to open) the little-book, he found (located) the place where it was written during that past time in that little-book (refer to Isaiah 58:6, plus 61:1 and 2a)...

·         "The spirit of the Lord is on me (the holy spirit-life from the Lord, Hebrew Adon emphasizing God in relation to the earth accomplishing His purposes and rulership over the earth, which was given conditionally and temporarily to him; refer to Luke 3:21 and 22),

·         by reason of which (for the sake of me having already received this holy spirit from God)

·         the Lord God anointed me (with holy spirit-life for a specific purpose)

o    to good-message (to preach the gospel, gospelize, evangelize)

o    to poor-people (those who are beggarly, crouching in the begging position in need of certain things),

·         He apostled me (He sent me forth/away on a specific mission or assignment and that fact has not changed)

·         to herald-forth (proclaim)

o    dismissal (the discharge, the leaving or letting-go from concern, the setting-free, acquittal, the remission of debt or punishment owed due to sins)

o    to captive-people (people who were taken captive, held captive by the enemy / satan / the devil, his prisoners of war, as having taken them by the spear during the battle)

o    and observation-upwardly (the action of looking-up in the recovery of physical sight; this verb may also include the action of being mentally aware and contemplating God's Word, even though someone may not physically see anything with his physical eyes)

o    to/for blind-people (those who currently cannot see),

·         to apostle (send forth/away on a specific mission or assignment)

o    within the sphere of action of dismissal (the discharge, the leaving or letting-go from concern, the setting-free, acquittal, the remission of debt or punishment owed due to sins)

o    the people who were broken-down and continue broken-down (as breaking into pieces, disintegrating from their correct way of functioning),

·         to herald-forth (proclaim)

o    an acceptable year of the Lord (a welcome, receivable year, approximately 365 days, pertaining to the Lord; this word "Lord" is used in Greek as a translation for the Hebrew word Jehovah / Yahweh and refers to God in His covenant-relationship to that-which He created)."

After Jesus folded the little-book (rolled it in a manner to close), and after he gave it away/back to the assistant (the attendant in the temple, who serves by attending in subservience to the chief-priest's will), he sat-down indicating that he would speak to them teaching publicly regarding what he read from the writing of Isaiah the prophet. The eyes of all-people in the synagogue were continuing to gaze intently on him (fixing their eyes intently upon him, giving attention to him). But he began (started) to say towards them that...

·         "Today this writing (during the present 24-hour period of time between sunset and sunset the specific scripture from Isaiah that I read; this does not include Isaiah 61:2b at the end of that verse because that part had not begun yet since it refers to a time that is still future and will begin when Christ comes to gather his people together and implement the day of wrath)

·         was fulfilled and continues fulfilled in your ears (it has been made-full, caused to be filled with the full-contents, filled-up, accomplished – the acceptable year has already started and continues at the present time, and you heard this truth from God's Word written by Isaiah which I read out-loud to you)."

The acceptable year from Pentecost 27 A.D. to Pentecost 28 A.D. had begun.

Also, it is interesting to note that in verse 18 above the word "anoint" comes from the same Greek word translated "Christ" which means "the Anointed-one." The Greek verb chrio translated "to anoint" literally means to touch the surface of a body slightly, to graze or rub something over with something else. God anointed His son for a specific purpose.

In the lands and during the time-period of the writing of the Bible, holy oil was poured on the high priest of God to begin his ministry for God and it was also used to anoint kings. Many people and things were anointed with holy oil to signify their making holy (sanctified) for a specific purpose, etc, which can be read about in many scriptures in the Bible. References: Exodus 29:7; Numbers 6:5, 7:1; I Samuel 9:16; Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:18 and 19; Acts 4:27, 10:38; II Corinthians 1:21; plus Hebrews 1:9.

Here, Jesus uses it figuratively referring to God's having poured oil on Jesus signifying that he has been made holy, sanctified for God's specific purpose, and literally by reason of receiving holy spirit-life from God. Jesus began to publicly teach in Nazareth of Galilee - and then he moved from Nazareth to Capernaum, which is also in Galilee, as recorded in verse 31 below. This record in Luke is not included in the books of Matthew, Mark, or John.

Genesis chapter 5


5:1This (is) the book of genesis of men in the day God made Adam, according to God’s image He made him; .2male and female He made them and blessed them and named their name “man” in the day He made them.

This is the book (the written information to record these words) of men’s genesis (the Greek word translated “men” does not necessarily specify gender, male or female when taken as a particular group, members of mankind, human-beings as one unit – the book of men’s origin, source, genealogical background of lineage, race, kind, descent [in the Hebrew language this word translated “men” is adam without gender or number (as verses 3-5 below), plus the word “genesis” is always in the plural form, and therefore this phrase reads: geneses of mankind])…

·         during the day God made Adam (did, performed, produced, brought about the action of His purpose regarding the man, specifically Adam [the verb “made” in Hebrew is bara which refers to the initiation of God’s action regarding this creation and it emphasizes the completion of this action in the past – when Elohim created Adam]),

o   according to God’s image (in accordance with, in conformity and proportion to/with the icon, resemblance, representation of God – by placing inside of the man the constitution of spirit which is the image of God Who is Spirit [the Hebrew text has “likeness” instead of “image”])

o   He made him (produced, brought about, did the action of His purpose regarding him);

…male (a male member of mankind) and female (a female member of mankind)…

·         He made them (He did, performed, produced, brought about the action of His purpose regarding them; refer to Genesis chapter 2 for details about the male and female members of mankind [again the verb “made” in Hebrew is bara which refers to the initiation of God’s action regarding this creation and it emphasizes the completion of this action in the past])

·         and blessed them (He spoke well of the male and the female members of mankind so as to cause them to be in the state of being blessed; whom/what God speaks well of receives the blessing, it comes to pass for the recipient, what is spoken by God happens to the recipient which is good for him/her/the-situation – He spoke words that are well/good to and regarding them)

·         and named their name “man” (He called them, put the name of “mankind” on the male and the female identifying their constitution as originating from the earth; both were members of mankind, human-beings; the Greek word translated “man” does not necessarily specify gender, male or female when taken as a particular group; in Hebrew the word is adam which is similar to the word used for “earth” adama])

…during the day He made them (He did, performed, produced, brought about the action of His purpose regarding them [again the Hebrew verb is bara which refers to the initiation of God’s action regarding this creation, but this verb is in the ‘niphal’ stem or pattern in the passive sense – when they were created]).

Mark chapter 1


.35And very early in-night having stood-up he went-out and went-away into a deserted place and-there he used-to-pray.

.36And Simon pursued him down and the (people) with him, .37and they found him and say to him that, "All-people seek-after you." .38And he says to them, "Let us lead into the country-cities having elsewhere in order that also there I may herald-forth, for with-a-view-to this I came-out." .39And he went heralding-forth into their synagogues into the whole of Galilee and throwing-out the devils.

Extremely early during the nighttime, after Jesus arose from sleep he came out from the house and went away from that area into a deserted place (a desolate or wilderness area) and there he was continuing to pray (communicating to/with God, speaking generally towards God).

Simon pursued him down (he followed or proceeded earnestly after Jesus as hunting him down) and the people with him. They found him and say to him that, "All-people seek-after you (everyone is looking for you)."

Jesus says to them...

·         "Let us lead (this is a polite command or a very strong suggestion advising Simon and those with him that all of them should direct, conduct, convey themselves)

    • into the country-cities having elsewhere (the towns in the surrounding areas in other places)
    • for the purpose and result that in addition in there I may herald-forth (proclaim at another location),

·         in truth, it was with-a-view-to (directed to, for the purpose of) this I went out (from Simon's house at Capernaum)."

Jesus went heralding-forth (proclaiming) into the synagogues at other locations into the entire area of Galilee and he was throwing (casting) out the devils (as verse 34 above) from people in whom they were living.

First Corinthians chapter 12


12:1But concerning the spiritual-things, brothers, I do not intend you to not-know.

Once again, Paul addresses the Corinthian holy-people as "brothers" – reminding them that they all had received the same holy spirit-life from God by means of the Lord Jesus Christ which made them all children of God, including Paul and those with him.

Paul writes: I do not intend (will) you to be ignorant (to be un-knowing, unaware), brothers…

·         emphatically concerning (this phrase is placed at the beginning of the sentence to emphasize this topic which is encompassing, encircling, about)

o   the spiritual-things (those matters belonging to, determined by, influenced by and proceeding from spirit).

Paul did not wait until he physically arrived in Corinth to tell them this information. He wanted them to know the details about the spiritual-things now.

Spiritual-things include God Who is Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ who has his spiritual body, and the gift of holy spirit which every holy-person has graciously received from God by means of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians chapters 12-14 include many details about spiritual-things and how we holy-people should behave ourselves.

·         Chapter 12 emphasizes from where and in connection with whom holy-people receive spiritual-things.

·         Chapter 13 emphasizes our attitude, motivation, and enthusiasm when manifesting spiritual-things.

·         Chapter 14 emphasizes our objective, goal, and focus when we assemble together in a group.
