Encouraging Bible Verses

Maura, currently there are many people searching for "Encouraging Bible Verses". I thought we might start a topic within your blog that would help other Christians by providing Bible Scriptures that can provide encouragement and comfort.

A couple of Bible Verses that I find very encouraging and comforting can be found in the the book of Philippians chapter 4.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing
by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known
unto God. And the peace of God,
which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus.

Your comments and explanations are always welcome.

  1. Yes indeed these verses are encouraging to all Christians.

The word "careful" means "anxious" or "mentally distracted with care".
We should not be anxious concerning anything - but during every situation or circumstance by our general prayer and making known our specific needs with thankfulness, we should make our requests known towards God (this does not say we should tell everybody else in our neighborhood or at the office!).

And what happens next? The peace proceeding from God, which is being superior to every mind, will guard our hearts and our mind's thinking in Christ Jesus.

I provide additional details in my book on Philippians at http://www.truebiblestudy.com/Products.htm

Some other encouraging verses are about the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to gather all Christians together with him:

    I Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KVJ):
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

  2. Thought I would add another encoraging Bible verse.

    Romans 5:1

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Being justified by faith and having Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ is encouraging.

Justified and at Peace with God!
is righteously superior to the alternative.

  3. Here are some more Encouraging Bible Verses.

    Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    Psalm 37:25

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

    Psalm 107:1

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

  4. Here are some more Encouraging Bible Verses.

    Hebrews 4:14 – 16

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  5. I have already suggested Romans 5:1as an encouraging Bible Scripture or verse. Of course, the verses that follow could be considered quite encouraging as well.

    Romans 5:1-9

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

May you find these scriptures encouraging.

  6. More Encouraging Bible Verses.

    1 Thessalonians 1:9-10

9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

There is a coming wrath and all christians have been delivered from that wrath. Encouraging Scripture indeed.

  7. I know this is an old post, but the awesome and encouraging Bible verses you have here are truly timeless. What a blessing to know that! Of these, my favorites are Proverbs 3:5-6 and Philippians 4:6-7. Another favorite is Proverbs 18:10, which reminds us that the Name of the Lord is our strong tower! Thanks for the sweet encouragement tonight.
